The U.S. National Sake Appraisal has been held annually since 2001 and is the oldest sake appraisal outside of Japan. More than 500 sake entries are judged using traditional Japanese judging methods. Gold and silver awards are awarded to sakes that receive excellent reviews, and the Grand Prix and Runner-Up Awards are awarded to sakes that receive particularly high scores.
